Our Adoption Process
A detailed explanation of everything you need to know
What do the cats have?
- Current on Distemper vaccines
- Current on their Rabies
- Spayed or Neutered
- Microchipped
- Treated for internal and external parasites upon arrival
- Given all necessary veterinary care while they are in our possession
Our goal is to provide a safe, cage-free environment where homeless cats can be paired with loving families. We try to create an environment that allows us (and protentional owners) to see how a cat might behave in a new home, noting personality aspects such as activity level, attitudes, and comfort level with children, dogs, and other cats. We look for permanent homes for our residents, and we believe strongly that finding “the purrfect fit” is the biggest part of doing what we do.
All protentional adopters will be asked to fill out an adoption application which asks for references, information about the household/its residents, and questions about potential future changes that may affect your new feline companion. You must be 18 years of age or older to apply for adoption.
Is my cat sick?
We promise to give you an honest and thorough explanation of any cat’s veterinary history after arrival and if possible before, current state of health, and any behavioral issues as we are able at time of adoption. When adopting from us, you will get their veterinary records. You are welcome to request to view your cats record before applying to adopt, and we will answer any questions you have.
Not only do we strive to make sure you are the cats right fit, but they’re also yours. We’re looking for furrever homes.
To speed up the application process, please make sure your references and vet know to expect a call from us. You may also need to let your veterinary reference know that you give permission for us to inquire with them about your current pets veterinary history. We will reach out to you as soon as a decision has been made or if we have any questions.
In the event that an adopter for some reason absolutely cannot keep a cat adopted from us, we ask that you give us a call to discuss the possibility of returning the cat to us for re-adoption, or let us know about their new owner that is not a different rescue. We’re always willing to take back our past residents.
Please note that applications are approved or denied entirely at our discretion.
